Lions Mobile Sight & Hearing Unit of 24D
Supporting the Van

The Sight & Hearing Van is dependent on the usage fees collected and your generous donations to stay on the road helping our clubs and communities. In 2008 we made the committment to apply all donations to our Van Replacement Fund, unless the donor specifically told us to apply the funds to some other use. That means we also committed to operating the van strictly off the day use and mileage fees we assess - and so far that is working out (with a very tight margin!).

We're happy to report that at the close of 2010, our Van Replacement Fund is in excess of $51,000 - well on our way to the estimated $250,000 it will cost to replace our van. It is our desire to field a new Van by 2020, at which time our current van will be 24 years old.

The Sight & Hearing Van is an independent 501.c.3 non-profit charitable corporation. What that means is that any club, individual or organization, Lion or non-Lion, may contribute to us and receive the benefit of a federal tax deduction.

In addition, Lions District 24-D has established a budget line item for RAM/LAMP - the Remote Area Medical / Lions Assisted Medical Project in Wise County, Virginia every July. Clubs or individuals may contribute to the RAM/LAMP budget line to support sending both the S&H Van and the LAMP trailer full of optical equipment to this extremely worthwhile project.

For more information on making a contribution to the Sight & Hearing Van or to the RAM/LAMP budget line, please contact our Treasurer, Lion John Cranford, by clicking here or at the address below:
